Jo's Blog - 20 August 2009

Hello, everyone, it's Jo Cox here,

I've surfaced from writing the new book, because I have seen how some recent 'conversations' on our website, have drifted into an uncomfortable area.

As you must all know, I deeply value your support and loyalty, and am thrilled that we have been able to give you a sounding platform, with which to talk to me, share your views on me and my writing, and for you to make friends with each other; that is my greatest joy.

I love reading your messages and shared experiences, and though I'm always on a deadline to write the books and travel the world, in order to see and speak with you, it does not mean I can't still be tuned in to all that happens, because I can assure you, I am fully involved and really forward to the cross chit-chat.

However, as you are probably already aware, there has been some difference of opinion of late, which has interfered with the nature and mood of the website, and I am a little upset by it. I feel we all need to calm down and take a breather.

You all know me so well. I come from a difficult background, and have known poverty and a deal of bad stuff in my life, and because of that, I feel fortunate to have you all as friends and not just readers. This is why, it really hurts me to see how strong reactions and difference of opinion have escalated on our website. I have to be honest with you. As a child, I heard more arguments and foul language than you could ever imagine, and to see how our website has been damaged in this way, touches me deeply.

Those of you, who were involved in the heated exchange, please think about what you're doing and those of you who witnesses this unpleasantness, I do sincerely apologise. (I hope the culprits have the decency to do the same).

Just to remind everyone that our website is a place for sharing, and enjoying and mostly, it's a place for you to gain friends and have a laugh, or to share your feelings and opinions about my books and me, and each other.

PLEASE! Let's keep it that way for all our sakes.

My love to you as always,

Jo Cox
